The Client

The client is in an industry where reputation counts a lot and competition is very high.

The Challenge

When the client sought our services, their keyword rankings were lost and website traffic was suffering due to manual Google penalty. They were very keen on recovering their website from Google’s unnatural link penalty caused by their previous SEO provider.

Our Solutions

We were up for the challenge of helping the client recover from Google Penalty. We came up with a plan and implemented the strategies at once.

Link Profiling

First, we gathered all the links that are directed to the client’s website. We downloaded links from Google search console, Google Webmaster tools, and gathered a list of backlinks using SEMRush. This is a very sensitive process as it is very important to start with the right data to be able to identify the suspicious links that are harming the client’s website.

Data Compilation and Segregation

Upon gathering complete data, we compiled it in a Google Spreadsheet, so we could easily assess and get a better overview of how the website stand in the link removal process. Data compilation and segregation is very important as this will support the reconsideration request to Google and will show them what we have done to sort their website issues.

Identification of Low Quality Links

The links gathered were assessed and identified to be able to segregate high­ quality from low quality links. This requires hard work and attention to accurately identify links that must be deleted, as well as the ones that must be kept.

Link Deletion Request / Outreach

After identifying the sites where the suspicious links came from, we researched the contacts of those websites to manually request removal without resorting to payments or offering anything
in exchange of link deletion. The process as well as the results were documented to support the request to Google.

Link Disavow

We have created a link disavow file showing the types of suspicious links that were directed to the website and indicating the actions requested to Google. The link disavow copy was sent to Google.

Google Reconsideration Request

Sending a reconsideration request is the final step towards penalty recovery and it is not an easy thing to do. Google reconsideration request showed how we are very keen on getting the website issue resolved. It also demonstrated the efforts that we have taken to eliminate the unnatural links found on our website.

Our Results

After submitting the reconsideration request to Google, it did not took that long to receive a response from them. We received a message from Google saying that the penalty has been revoked and the website will be back on the Search Engine results.

The client was very happy and appreciative of our efforts and likewise our team was rejoicing for a job well done for the client. To this day, we are still providing SEO services for the client and continues to deliver quality results to maintain the integrity and authority of the website.
